When organizations opt for a GRC tool, they usually come from an Excel administration and they make a very conscious choice to move away from it. A GRC tool is therefore not chosen for just one year, but for the long term. The implementation is tailor-made and requires attention to optimally configure it and to ensure support in the organization.

Our strategy is aimed at qualitative growth and product development. We maintain active contact with our customers, listen to their user experiences and encourage the submission of feature requests. If in our opinion these fit within the further development of YICE, we will place the requests on our release planning and they will be implemented free of charge. We are convinced that a GRC tool has never been fully developed and must respond to current market developments in the field of governance, risk management and compliance.

YICE B.V.

In addition to the management, Team YICE consists of a permanent team of developers and support staff located in Amersfoort. The cloud hosting is provided by a reputable Dutch hosting provider. YICE was founded at the end of 2018 by the owner of Awaretoday and has continued as a separate entity since mid-2020: YICE B.V.

In the beginning of 2019, YICE went live with the first customer. Since then, more than 20 releases with hundreds of extensions have been implemented. As a result, YICE now is a competitive and mature product. YICE B.V. has also been in possession of an ISO 27001 certificate since the beginning of 2021.

As part of Awaretoday consultancy activities, since years Excel was used to register risks, controls and actions, needed to manage the Information Security Management System (ISMS). The Excel sheets were improved over the years but these remained rough and sober when it came to user management, audit trail, logging, functionality, etc. Because of these reasons YICE was build, to effectively and efficiently operate the ISMS. During the YICE development however, it appeared that YICE has a lot more potential and can have a much wider scope. It can be used to manage a wide range of control frameworks, like HSEQ or GDPR. But YICE can also easily be used in environments in which assurance is an important issue, like ISAE 3402 or SOC2. Owner, reviewers and (external) auditors, can work together and manage their own interests.

Awaretoday was founded in 2014 from the vision that information security can only be effective if it fits in with the dynamics and culture of the organization. The name Awaretoday has not been chosen by coincidence. Awareness and commitment, at all levels in the organization, form the basis for success. First be aware, then be secure.

In the past 35 years, he has built up a wealth of experience in a variety of organizations and industrial branches, which makes him suitable to operate effectively in a very practical and realistic way. Besides all quality aspects of IT management, Nico’s specializations are information security management, IT-audit, privacy, risk management, quality, governance and compliance.
